The Desert Valleys Debate League began having tournaments in Fall 2005. The Desert Valleys Debate League includes Desert Springs Middle School, La Contenta Middle School, Coombs and Nicolet Middle Schools, James Workman Middle School, Raymond Cree Middle School, La Quinta Middle School, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, St. Theresa School, Col. Paige Middle School, Nellie Coffman Middle School, and Yucaipa Middle School.

The league is now recruiting and training new middle schools through an extensive outreach effort. In the Coachella Valley alone, there are 15 public middle schools and 19 private schools from which to collect a new cadre of competitors. The Desert Valleys Debate League boundaries will extend from Hemet to Banning, from Yucca Valley, including 29 Palms, throughout Coachella Valley.

Like all MSPDP leagues, the DVDL has elected officers. The DVDL officers are:

Greg Paulk , League President. Paul is the lead coach at Desert Springs Middle School, in the Palm Springs Unified School District.
Joanie Wilcox, League Secretary. Debbie is the lead coach at Raymond Cree Middle School, in the Palm Springs Unified School District.
Beth Ferris, League Treasurer. Beth is the lead coach at La Contenta Middle School in the Morongo Unified School District.
Kelley Bieringer, Tournament Director. Kelley is a teacher at James Workman Middle School, in the Palm Springs Unified School District.
