The District of Columbia Debate League (DCDL) was formed as part of a partnership between the Middle School Public Debate Program (MSPDP) and the District of Columbia Urban Debate League (DCUDL). The DCDL is the largest middle school debate league in the eastern United States.
Now in its third full year of operation, the league serves students in public and charter schools in the D.C. metropolitan area, with a focus on students attending schools in the District of Columbia.
In the 2006-2007 school year, the league expanded dramatically to include students from Prince George's County and Montgomery County.
