The Big Apple Debate League (BADL) was started in the winter of 2005 by the MSPDP, and a group of interested teachers in New York City. Considerable support for starting the league was provided by the International Debate Education Association.
Now in its first full year of operation, the league serves students in public, private, and charter schools in all five boroughs. It is the fastest growing middle school debate league in the United States.
Current member schools include: The Hewitt School, IS 131, Bronx Prep, Bronx Law, Berkeley Carroll, The Manhattan School for Children, MS 134, Allan Stevenson, and others.
Like all MSPDP leagues, the BADL has a league president. The founding president of the BADL is Alexia White, of the Hewitt School. Her email address is awhite@hewittschool.org.
BADL's Tournament Director is Alberto Duarte. |

BADL's O pening tournament on Saturday, October 6th will be at The Hewitt School on 45 East 75th Street, between Madison and Park Avenue. Registration begins at 9AM, and the tournament will end at approximately 2PM.
